In Reception, we aim to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment, in which our children develop a love of learning, resilience and learn to enjoy challenging themselves. We want every child to feel confident in the school environment and ambitious in their learning.
We plan carefully with all of the needs of the children in mind and the elements of the development matters curriculum to enable each child to feel safe, confident and ready to learn in a stimulating environment. We are aware that with the current events children may need more support with regulating emotions, developing their resilience and actively learning, therefore we plan to the interests of the children, regularly reflecting on the how each child can use the resources to create and think critically.
Important information
PE
Our PE day is Friday. On PE days, children should come to school in their school PE kit - dark shorts/jogging bottoms, a white t-shirt and trainers, to be worn with their school jumper.
Home-school learning
Reading
In Reception, we view reading as the most important form of home learning. We assign weekly home learning via Google Classroom.
Children are expected to read at home daily. Please sign and make a comment in your child’s reading record book. We change reading books on a Monday and Tuesday so please ensure that your child’s book and reading record are in their bags on these days.
